50 mL, Centrifuge Tube, Self-Standing, White Cap "1342-550S (24 pieces)

I use centrifuge tubes to store 18 gram shots of coffee beans in the freezer. I have purchased three different colored sets of tubes from three different manufacturers. I like to have a selection of different coffee beans on hand and the color coded tubes has been helpful.This set I purchased from Watson-Bio-Lab is the most recent of all the tubes I have and was purchased only 75 days ago. Half a dozen tubes already have broken bottoms (the self standing portion) which presents 2 problems. The first problem, obviously, is they can no longer stand upright. The second more important problem, is that I need to tare every one of the broken tubes with the cap before adding the beans then turn it upside down to check the weight. Normally all the tubes are within .1 gram of each other so I only need to tare once before loading the entire set.None of the tubes from the other brands have any cracking like this group from Watson-Bio-Lab and all the tubes have experience the same freezing, jostling, and occasional dropping.I cannot recommend this tube, especially for any purpose that involves freezing temperatures.

It allows these tubes to be organized on your bench without the use of a tube rack.* The caps seal tightly enough. I see the review with concern about them coming loose during high speed centrifuge spins, but I have not experienced any loose lids.* The matte finish on the side allows for easy labeling with a sharpie or grease pencil.* The polypropylene is plenty strong to prevent cracking if one dropped while full, and even stood up well to my hammer test.* Graduations are accurate on the samples I tested.* Cheap price.

Vial of many uses! I am a biologist and use them for various surveys. Love that they stand up on their own. The score on cap is great compared to cork stoppers, no leaks! Accurate size. Easy to use and sanitize.

I chose these because plastic products made in Japan tend to be high quality, and I perceive them as safer to use than items made in China. I do not currently work in a lab but I have in the past. These specimen tubes with screw on lids are good quality. The lids have a bit of a notch at the end of the threads so you can feel when you have put them on all the way. They do stand up on their own. You can write on them with a permanent marker and it's dry seconds later - no smudging for both the tube and lid. I will use these to germinate seeds for my garden and to propagate plant cuttings. Since they are large, you can put a small cutting completely inside and seal the lid, a practice some books reccomend to avoid rot. They are a little smaller around and a little longer than a standard toilet paper tube. Easy to handle with gloves on. Lids are really well done, putting them on and taking off is no problem. The markings on the side in mL are easy to read. Comes in a plastic bag which is perfect infor bulk storage in the lab. I likely will reorder these when I use them up.I did use these to sprout a bunch of pumpkin seeds before planting them, they worked great.

I bought these not for any scientific reason but for storing vegetable and flower seeds. I harvest seeds from the plants I grow to use in the next planting season. These will help me keep everything neatly labeled and stored away.I will also use these as pill containers when I go on vacation. I take multiple supplements each day and these tubes are the perfect size without being too bulky to pack.They have a slight chemical smell to them so be sure to wash them before use.

This is a fine set of very sturdy, easily sterilizable and autoclavable tubes, at a great price point. For home-growing mycologists these tubes can serve a big library-building purpose: lots of standard slants for the year, as well as a lot of agar-in-water stasis tube for keeping cultures for even more years. The self standing feature means you can easily get your agar-based cultures in stasis without needing a rack.They are very clearly marked, and so easy to work with, having a wide mouth and well-mated cap that seals well. they accept a parafilm or grafting tape wrap very quickly and with good adhesion/form. They also do fit in all 50ml racks you can find, and with a correctly angled prop-up of that rack, can still create slants in bulk and quickly. Overall, I'm super happy to pick up these guys and they are a 5 for me.

These test tubes are incredibly versatile and among the best I’ve used. Over the years, I’ve tried many brands, and these rank at the top. I use them for countless purposes: storing Advil, Aspirin, and Tums in my vehicles’ dashboards, holding nitrile gloves in my first aid bags, mixing airbrush paint, and organizing small parts. Their clarity allows me to easily see the contents, and they’re exceptionally durable. Even when squeezed with force, they don’t break, maintaining their stiff, resilient shape and bouncing back instantly. The cloudy spot on each tube is perfect for labeling with a marker, and the milliliter graduation marks are clear and easy to read. To test their reliability, I filled one with water, lightly secured the lid, and left it upside down all day—no leaks. The lids on these do feel a little flimsy compared to some others I have but they work just fine. I also dropped a water-filled tube onto concrete, and it remained intact. These test tubes are good-quality, well-priced, and ideal for a wide range of uses. If they suit your needs, they’re definitely worth checking out.

These thbes are polypropylene and are resistant to most common chemicals and solvent. They are fine for any science projects etc. They are not sterile and in bulk pack.The lid seals well and doesn't leak. However an indent on the cap to lock it at position is not a good idea. While the indent prevents cap from loosening it also prevents it from tightening further.I spent half of my life in research labs. This doesn't match with brands used in research labs. The tube and cap both comparatively thinner. Even though it didn't leak in my test the indent is not right for critical and/or dangerous samples. I am not in lab now so didn't test it for centrifugation. Usually 50ml tubes are never spun at high speed so it should be fine for most tasks for this size tube.I have attached some pictures with a Falcon tube (old and dirty) for comparison.Overall this is a fine inexpensive polypropylene tube for most science projects or school labs etc. for more critical setup there are other products out there.

They have a very strong chemical smell inside the tube. I wasn't expecting the need to wash before use.

These are good quality tubes that seems durable and leak proof. They worked really well in a lab environment for testing and there were no issues found. I would say this is a good value.

Nice self-standing centrifuge tubes with plenty of capacity. Nice quality and performance overall. Very handy to have available for use in the lab or home. Recommended!

These are great! Use them as coffee freezing tubes. I can get a single shot worth of decaf dark roast and can squeeze enough for a double shot of medium and light roast coffees.

These are excellent centrifuge tubes Made in Japan. Watson Bio Lab appears to be a legit Japanese company with high quality pipette products. I like the quick thread caps and surface that is easy to write on without requiring sticky labels.Great product.

The WATSON-BIO-LAB 50 mL Centrifuge Tubes are truly impressive!We originally got these 50 mL polypropylene tubes, which come in a pack of 24, primarily for our kids' science projects. However, their exceptional quality quickly made them a staple in our daily lives.The high-quality material used for these tubes, free from bubbles or impurities, is evident. We've found them incredibly useful for easily transporting various dry goods. The caps provide a superior seal, thanks to their external and triple-thread design, ensuring excellent leak-proof performance, which has been a huge plus for us.These tubes are also DNase/RNase/Human DNA free, a testament to their rigorous manufacturing standards. I wanted a solution to hold measured quantities of diesel fuel additive to make it easier and more convenient to dose my vehicle during fueling. I typically have a 500 mL Pyrex in the trunk, but the gradations are only approximate, and while over-dosing on the additive is typically not a concern, it's basically just wasted product. I wanted a solution that was less fragile, leakproof, foolproof, and fast/convenient.Since polypropylene is generally chemical resistant, I leak tested one by pouring in some additive and then closed and placed upside down in the shop overnight. The shop is usually 65-70 F during the workday, and then the heat turns off. Maintenance temperature is around 55 F. No detectable leak was found despite the temperature change, and when I opened it, I didn't notice any wicking of additive through the threads. Most fuel additives and diesel itself are light fuel oils, so they tend to wick out of sealed containers instead of just plainly leaking. I couldn't smell any of the additive either, so that's a good sign.I have an accurate graduated cylinder, and some other automotive fluids to test how well the cap seals, and if it really is a polypropylene cap as advertised. Any other use of the container should be just fine (medication, workout powders/protein powders, waterproof cash stash, etc). There are also plenty of online resources for chemical compatibility in case you wanted to put something more exotic in these centrifuge tubes.Overall, a very useful, functional item that may be just at home in your every day life as much as living on the lab bench.

These Japanese centrifuge tubes are well made. The construction is solid and the caps create a secure seal. The graduations are easy to read and I found them to be accurate within 1%. One somewhat unusual characteristic is that despite being 50 mL tubes, the volume markings only go up to 45 mL. (The tubes do have a volume greater than 50 mL and there is space for a 50 mL graduation.)These are a good value and are good to use both in and out of the lab.

Watson is one of my go-to companies for scientific equipment. These tubes are secure, stand on their own and don't leak. Quality plastic. Price is very fair for premium brand name equipment. They work well for both centrifuge and transport.

These are really high quality standing 50ml conicals. Absolutely on par with what I used to use back in the day at the bench. In fact, I may well have used these in my past life as a lab rat. These days, I get my science on brewing beer and that's where I'll be using these.Not entirely certain what to say about them. They're exactly as pictured, they're well molded, they seal well, they stand as they should, they're graduated for your convenience and, being polypropylene, they're fairly inert. Markings are clear and easy to read. Price is great too. Packaging is just loose in a bag, but who cares. I like 'em, I'd say they're as nice as any I've ever used, and I would definitely recommend them.

I got these because my daughter and I do a lot of Science stuff such as gathering insects for observation and looking at all sorts of life under microscopes. So it's nice to have some professional feeling containment.The feels pretty durable and made well. The lids seal really tightly. The measurements seem pretty accurate.I can't wait to put these to work!
