Blood can be broadly divided into plasma, white, and red blood cells. Roughly speaking, white blood cells are responsible for immunity, while red blood cells carry oxygen to cells. The plasma component is the fluid through which they flow, and it contains a mixture of many transmitting substances that are distributed to all body parts and regulate body functions.

Blood tests can detect various diseases by examining their composition. In particular, cancer diagnosis by testing for the presence of different cancer markers in the blood has attracted attention in recent years as a liquid biopsy that can be performed without burdening the body.
