Konnichiwa!
It’s the first week of June, and in Japan, that means we’re approaching the Rainy Season—a short, drizzly period that bridges spring and summer.
But for me, the real downpour came in the form of pages... lots and lots of pages.
I recently finished reading the Japanese-translated edition of Fourth Wing (Part 1), and wow—it's been a while since I tore through a book that fast.
Sure, as with many translations, some phrases felt a little awkward here and there, but the story’s momentum more than made up for it. That thrill, that post-reading excitement... I was hooked.
The sequel is already out, but…
I still have a small mountain of five unread books in front of me. So, I’m planning to clear those first, reset my brain, and then return to the world of dragons and drama.
Speaking of books—Japan has translated countless global titles into Japanese, and many have become beloved bestsellers.
In fantasy, you’ll instantly recognize classics like:
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Lord of the Rings
Earthsea
Harry Potter
And in mystery… well, need I even say it?
Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
(…Why do I bring that one up, you ask?
Let’s just say: a certain someone might be deeply connected to that world… ahem.
The sharpest readers among you may have already picked up the clue—but that’s all I can say for now. 🤫)
